Compassionate thinking, experience and determination to the city council

I’m a second-term member of the city council, member of the city board, member of the board of HUS (Helsinki University hospital district), a school psychologist and single mother to a newborn baby. I’m running in the 2021 municipal elections in Helsinki because I want to continue working for an equitable Helsinki.

Good services, fair decisions

In the Helsinki of my dreams, the services for families, elderly and mental health are diverse and suited for all kinds of families and persons. The health care system is a safe environment for both workers and citizens, and social work supports people in building a good every-day life.

I stand for a Helsinki where schools prepare children and young people equally for life, and where climate decisions are ambitious and just.

THINGS I WORK FOR

Schools preparing children fairly for life

Schools must give all children equal chances to grow into well-being persons, find a career and do well in life.

Everyone must get suitable teaching and support, regardless of their abilities to learn, health issues, disabilities, socio-economic background, ethnic background, language or other differences.

Education must promote students’ responsibility and participation in society.

Fixing mental health services

Mental health services must be easily accessible, adequate and timely. We need ”therapy guarantee” so that people can get councelling or therapy quickly when they face problems.

Day care centres, schools and social and health services for children and families must all support psychological growth in order to prevent mental health problems.

The goal for all policy must be a humane city, where unreasonable expectations or conditions won’t lead to students’, workers’ or citizens’ exhaustion.

Diversity of families must be recognized

All city services must take into account the diversity of families: LGBTQ families, single-parent families, blended families, single person households...

Staff must be trained to take into account the diversity of families, so that no one gets overlooked or discriminated against in maternity and child health clinics, day care centres, family councelling offices, schools…

Services must answer the needs of single parents and blended families, for example, such as flexible care arrangements and children living in two homes.

Carbon neutral Helsinki

The climate crisis must be taken into account in all decision-making and carbon neutrality pursued ambitiously. Burning of coal must be given up.

Pedestrians, cycling and public transport must be emphasized in traffic planning; it also affects the pleasentness of the environment.

All city purchases and acquisitions, for example school lunches, must take into account the effects on climate.
